Yes, I know. An Engagement ring should be worn 24/7, so why am I listing times when you shouldn’t wear it. Well, even though they are pretty and make you squeal every time you look at them, but there are a few adverse effects which occur when you wear them in certain conditions.

1. While sleeping
Your sheets and specific materials like cotton can be abrasive on stones and metals over time. Despite that, certain metals may be abrasive on the skin and may cause discoloring, leaving behind a greenish hue. Rings are also malleable and the weight of your body may bend it which may be costly to fix.

2. While doing intense activities
You may not realize that you lose your ring doing any vigorous activities like working out, deep sea diving, sky diving or even riding a roller coaster. If you know you are going to do these things then keep your ring away. It’s better to be safe then sorry.

3. Swimming
Every time you take a dip in a pool or water body the different chemicals and minerals can affect the metal in the ring. It can deteriorate the ring. More over, water is a very good lubricant and can be a factor leading your jewelry to slip off and fall. I think we all learnt from Kim K!
