The cut of a diamond is it’s ability of reflect light which leads to it’s brilliance. The shape refers to the appearance of the stone like round, square, oval etc. Even though shape is not included in one of the four C’s of a diamond (cut, carat, color and clarity) , it is an important factor on how the ring will appear on the hand of the wearer. Here are a few tips on which shape would suit you the best.

1. Short fingers
Women with shorter fingers should try elongated styles. To give an illusion of long fingers, styles like pear, oval or marquise are the best. Also, make a note to avoid wide bands which give an illusion for short fingers.

2. For long fingers
Women with long fingers who wish for a shorter look should try styles like squares such as princess and radiant’s. Even wide ring bands help to give an illusion of shorter fingers.

3. Large and thin fingers
For women with large fingers, the best shapes are hearts and rounds.
Whereas, the same shapes for women with thin fingers are not advised. You should try on a variety of rings for contrast.

4. Large hands
For women with large hands avoid any slender or delicate rings and narrow diamond shapes like emerald or the marquise. There styles will make your hands look larger. As a result, yours hands will also not look proportional.

Form a habit of trying on different styles to see what works best for you. You can also try layering if you find it comfortable. Don’t be afraid to explore different types of rings even if you don’t like them. You never know what may end up looking good!
